Peace for every body.

Mindfulness-based somatic therapy and EMDR to help you repair your relationship with your body, recover from trauma, and realize the life you most want to live.

Therapy is a space to digest and metabolize all that you've been through, and to discover how your unique experience can provide fuel for your goals in life.

I support people who:

  • are suffering with anxiety, depression, or just have trouble living in the moment because of past trauma

  • are struggling to connect with, accept, and love their body

  • struggle with disordered eating

  • want to divest from diet culture

  • are questioning their spiritual or religious identity

to:

  • process their past

  • understand and honor the wisdom of emotion

  • embrace radical acceptance and self-compassion

  • make peace with food and eating

  • balance the demands of life with whole self care

  • grieve, celebrate, and choose the life they want

Mindfulness is paying attention to the present moment, with curiosity and kindness. We cultivate mindful awareness by getting more and more in touch with what is unfolding for you moment-to-moment, even while discussing the past or the future. Mindfulness supports greater insight and compassion.

Somatic therapy incorporates awareness and attunement to your bodily sensations. Somatic therapy can support your ability to identify and work with your emotions, process memories stored in your body, and use movement as an aid to your healing process.

A Warm Welcome

Alyssa Franks, LMHCA, E-RYT, MA

Practicing under the Supervision of Kaitlyn Braile, LMHC #60631561

My approach to therapy is an integration of gestalt theory and yoga philosophy. I utilize mindfulness, somatic awareness, parts work, EMDR, intuitive eating, and energetic balancing.

I believe it is our fundamental nature to heal and grow. Therapy is a means for removing the obstacles that get in the way of that natural process. The basic ingredients of change are awareness and compassion. I am here to help you bring your innate wisdom and healing instinct forward, and live your fullest most authentic life.

I see adults and couples, and am currently accepting new clients for Telehealth.

The Flow

I am now accepting new clients on Tuesdays and Wednesdays via Telehealth.

Free 15min Consultation

First we'll have a brief phone call to see if we're a good fit for one another. I'll ask a bit about what you're hoping for and answer any questions you have about me.

Intake Assessment

Our first sessions are focused on getting to know you in a deep way and understanding what you are wanting from therapy.

I use a structured intake process, informed by yoga philosophy, and designed to assess for energetic imbalances across multiple aspects of your life. Armed with that information, we can establish clear goals for our work together.

Individual & Couple's Therapy

From there, we meet weekly or bi-weekly at a regular time for 50-minute sessions. Often, I begin sessions with a brief mindfulness or somatic exercise which can help us get deeper faster, and make the most of our session time.
